Pressure mounts on Union minister Nihalchand Meghwal in rape case accusation
The woman said she was being threatened by the minister's aides, fears for her life
New Delhi/Jaipur: Union minister for chemicals and fertilisers Nihalchand Meghwal, who has been accused of rape, came under pressure yet again after the woman on Tuesday alleged that she was being threatened to withdraw her complaint.
She also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Mr Meghwal even as National Commission for Women chairperson Mamta Sharma said that the commission would write to Mr Modi seeking his dismissal.
The minister was reportedly missing from the office throughout the day as the woman once again pointed a finger at him when she appeared on a news channel.
The woman, who is from Haryana, claimed she was being pressured by the minister’s aides to withdraw the charges levelled against him, according to some news channels.
Alleging intimidation, she said she needed security as she feared for her life.
