New Delhi: Finance minister Arun Jaitley is reported to have  recused  himself from any decision on the crucial Rs 20,000-crore Vodafone tax dispute, reports our correspondent. Though no official reason has been given, sources said that it could be because, in past Mr Jaitley may have represented any Vodafone case in his capacity as an advocate.

Reacting to the media queries, Jaitley wrote on Facebook: “I stopped practicing as a lawyer with effect from June 2, 2009. Prior to that, I had been consulted in the matter by the company on various taxation issues. I therefore considered it appropriate not to deal with the matter as a minister. Matters concerned with the Vodafone case would be dealt by the  revenue secretary and the minister of state (finance).”
