Hyderabad: United state or divided, there is no stopping Telugu students from sweeping the top ranks in the national-level IIT entrance exam.

Students from both Telangana and AP bagged a majority of the top-10 ranks in JEE (Advanced) results in the open category that were announced on Thursday.

All the toppers are from Narayana Sri Chaitanya IIT Academy. City students proved their mettle by bagging four out of the top-10 ranks. Though the IIT question papers were said to be tougher this year, students from AP and Telangana delivered a superb performance.

The dominance of Telugu students in the Joint Entrance Exam can be seen from the fact that out of 19,000 students shortlisted this year, 4,600 are from AP and Telangana. Telangana accounted for 2,500 qualifiers, with 1,500 from Hyderabad alone. AP had 2,100 qualifiers.
