Veteran TDP legislator Kodela elected Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly
Opposition YSRC also supported Mr Kodela’s candidature
Hyderabad: Senior Telugu Desam MLA Kodela Siva Prasada Rao will be elected unanimously as the first Speaker of Andhra Pradesh. The Opposition YSRC also supported Mr Kodela’s candidature and Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy signed on the nomination papers proposing Mr Kodela as Assembly Apeaker. Ahead of the deadline for filing nominations for the post on Thursday, only Mr Kodela had filed his papers. Assembly protem Speaker P. Narayana Swamy Naidu will announce that Mr Kodela was elected as Assembly Speaker unanimously in the House on Friday.
The Finance and Legislative affairs Minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu met the YSRCP leader YS Jagan and requested to see the assembly speaker to elect unanimously and asked to sign on the nomination papers. While signing on the nomination papers Jagan told to Yanamala ‘you can make the speaker whoever you want”. Then Yanamala told to Jagan that they have decided Kodela as the speaker.
Kodela was elected five times to the assembly from Narasaraopet constituency in Guntur district and recently he is elected sixth time to the assembly from Sattenapalli constituency in Guntur district. Kodela worked as Minister for long time.
Mean while Legislative affairs minister Yanamala said that the government will appoint the government Chief Whip and whips in this session only.
