Of late many actors, actresses and directors are making their debut in Tollywood with small films. Oohalu Gusa Gusa Lade is one such film with the director Srinivasa Rao Avasarala and the lead pair Naga Shourya and Raashi Khanna are making their debut with the film.
Sai Korrapati of Eega fame has produced the film and Srinivasa Avasarala, known for acting, has turned to direction with this film. A simple and cute love story with loads of entertainment awaits the audience. Venkateswara Rao or Venky (Naga Shourya) is a television anchor and his ambition is to become a good news reader.
But his boss Uday Bhaskar (Avasarala Srinivas) does not give him the opportunity to do so. Venky ends up anchoring tele-marketing ads. Uday Bhaskar sees a girl Sridevi (Raashi Khanna) and wants to marry her.
Awkward in the presence of girls, Uday seeks Venky’s help to talk to Sridevi. Initially reluctant to help his boss, Venky agrees when Uday promises him a promotion as a news reader. Venky meets Sridevi and realises that she is none other than his ex-girlfriend Prabha-vathi.
A flashback sequence shows how he fell in love with Prabhavathi when he was in Vizag for a vacation. A triangular story starts from here. The film shows how Venky sorts the tangled relationships.
Avasarala Srinivasa Rao has to be appreciated for wearing many hats successfully. Apart from direction, he has also given a good performance as an actor. The scenes where Avasarala impresses Sridevi at the hotel and the house are hilarious.
Avasarala has also written the screenplay and penned impressive and witty dialogues. The lead pair, Naga Shourya and Raashi Khanna, in their debut appearance, have done excellent work. Naga Shourya is perfect for the role of Venky; he looks fresh and has performed with ease. He has proved that there is bundle of local talent in addition to the star kids.
Raashi Khanna is definitely a good find for Telugu cinema. She is very impressive with her performance and has done her homework well. Rao Ramesh puts in a brief appearance, but his presence is felt in the film.
Technically also the film is good with some beautiful locales captured by cinematographer Venkat. The songs are good with music by Kalyani Koduri. The climax scene and the comedy routines fall a bit flat, still this breezy romantic entertainer is breath of fresh air. After watching all the regular masala action films, you can watch this film for its clean comedy sans double meaning dialogues.
