Washington: A week after deciding against sending combat troops into Iraq to combat a new terror threat, the Obama administration, in a major step on Friday, announced that it will be inserting as many as 300 'advisors' into the troubled country.

American military insiders have added that the 300 personnel include anti-terror operators from the SEALs, the Army Rangers and other elite divisions of the US army.

A CNN report quoted retired Marine Sgt. Adam Banotai as saying that the term advisers was “just political semantic”.  Others however, believe the advisers will be under serious threat from ISIL  who have been described as “semi-illiteral (illiterate) thugs driving around in pickup trucks with machine guns”.

Analysts feel American air strikes will only ‘dent’ ISIL as much of the terror group roams about in trucks. Much of the larger force and its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, remain hidden.  With no clear targets, the US could be flying helpless sorties above a Baghdad that has seen a high number of street skirmishes.
