Leander Paes faces domestic abuse charge
Rhea has also alleged that Leander has never “been involved” in parenting of their daughter
Mumbai: Tennis player Leander Paes’ estranged partner Rhea Pillai has filed an application in the Bandra court seeking a protection order against domestic violence. The former model approached the Bandra court on Saturday afternoon with her lawyers. She is seeking a personal protection order (PPO) from the court and has produced a few documents to support it. A PPO is sought under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
In the application, Ms Pillai has attached the non-cognisable complaint she had lodged against Leander at the Bandra police station for prohibiting her from entering their Bandra apartment. She also alleged that some people sent by Paes had hacked into her computer mails and taken some data, including photographs. When contacted, Ms Pillai’s lawyer Mrunalini Deshmukh said, “Yes, we are seeking protection orders for domestic violence.”
The court will now seek a reply from Leander through his lawyer. The matter will come up for hearing again in the Bandra court on June 30. Leander’s lawyer Zulfikar Memon said, “As of now I have not got any information on it.”
According to sources, Ms Pillai has also alleged that Leander has never really “been involved” in the parenting of their eight-year-old daughter. He is not in the country for more than six weeks a year. She alleged that Paes had been cheating on her since day one of their relationship. He has also fought with her many times and is an irresponsible father, she said in her complaint.
