Hyderabad: In a new rule intended to be a deterrent for youngsters, drunken drivers, even if their blood alcohol levels border on the lower margin, will be kept as captives for an entire day in court.

Till date, only a handful of drunken drivers (with higher levels of alcohol in their blood) were being sent to jail while the larger chunk was being let off with a warning and a fine and their vehicles were being seized. Drivers caught with lower levels will now be made to sit in court the entire day, being treated like a captive.
