Guwahati: A man, working on a highway project in Assam and abducted about a week ago, was rescued on Monday from Dima Hasao district, police said.
Nagamalleswara Rao, an Andhra Pradesh resident working in a highway project in Assam was rescued from Purana Maibong area during a joint-operation of the Assam Police and Assam Rifles, Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police Bedanta M Rajkhowa said.

"Three miscreants, who kidnapped Rao, fled from the scene.We are continuing our operation in and around the place to nab them," Rajkhowa told PTI.
Rao, working with the Vasishta Constructions as a crusher in-charge, was abducted from the Guwahati-Silchar National Highway construction site on June 16 night allegedly by some local miscreants and not by any terrorist group, the SP said.
No ransom was demanded or paid to anybody for Rao's release, he stated.
