GoAir announces non-stop Chandigarh-Mumbai flight service
Chandigarh has a huge potential for international flights: CEO, GoAir
Chandigarh: GoAir will begin its non-stop Chandigarh-Mumbai flight service from July 3 and it is also planning to start international journey by April-May next year.
"GoAir will have 19 departures per week with additional connectivity to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Kochi and Nagpur via Mumbai," Giorgio De Roni, CEO, GoAir, told reporters here. The Wadia group-owned carrier also plans to fly to international destinations in April-May next year, mainly to the Middle East and South East Asia.
He also said that Chandigarh has a huge potential for international flights. De Roni said the carrier plans to enhance capacity by 21 per cent in this fiscal by expanding its route network across metro and non-metro cities and higher aircraft utilisation. He said the airline's strategy to achieve this goal is based on few pillars that constitute its "Vision 2015", which entails attractive and sustainable fares, high aircraft utilisation, efficient cost structure and strengthening of services between metro airports and tier II and III cities.
De Roni said the government should slash heavy taxes on jet fuel to make it more affordable for the people to fly. "We hope the government will sooner rather than later consider bringing down these taxes significantly. On our part, we are forced to transfer this additional cost to our customers," he said.
