Hyderabad: A student hailing from Prakasam district committed suicide in Toronto, Canada, as he feared that he wouldn’t get a job after completion of studies. The deceased was identified as Patapati Saichand, 27, a native of Mallavarappadu.

He was allegedly duped by a consultancy run by an Indian, which took Rs 3 lakh from him promising a job. He completed his BE degree in AP and was pursuing his Masters in Lambton College of Business Management in Toronto. He went to Canada on August 31, 2012, and his wife joined him in October 2013.

Nannapaneni Mohan, of Telugu Association of North America, said, “His family said that there were no serious issues except that he was concerned about getting a job.” Saichand hails from an agricultural family and his family is not doing well financially as they have already spent their life savings on his education. “Since repatriation is a very expensive process, they have requested us to assist financially and logistically,” added Mr Mohan.
