Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the Telangana government should not raise objections to Polavaram Ordinance, as he has never objected to the benefits offered by the Centre to the Telangana state.

The Chief Minister said he had not demanded Union Territory status to Greater Hyderabad with the aim to keep regional differences at bay. Reacting to Telangana government’s opposition to certain mandals that are prone to submergence being given to AP, Mr Naidu said he has never demanded withdrawal of anything granted by the Centre to Telangana.

He said the stand taken by the Telangana government will only whip up regional intolerance. Polavaram project would be beneficial to AP as well as other  neighbouring states. People of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana need to live in harmony, he added.

Recalling his meeting with Prime Minister and other senior officials in Delhi, Mr Naidu said that when he requested for allocation of more power and financial assistance to AP to bring the state on par with Telangana, he also wanted the Centre to give similar power allocation to Telangana.
