BJP leader murder case: Pistol used in crime recovered

The accused, who was remanded in police custody for a day, identified the pistol

Muzaffarnagar: The pistol used in the murder of BJP leader Om Vir Singh has been recovered by police at the instance of the accused Monu. Police recovered the pistol after Monu, who was remanded in police custody for a day on Tuesday, identified the pistol, circle officer Mahesh Mishra told reporters on Wednesday.

47-year-old Om Vir Singh 'Fauji', a retired army man who was the vice-president of BJP unit in Mirapur town, was killed by two assailants on June 10.

A few political leaders have been killed in previous few days. Om Vir Singh was the second party leader to be murdered, sparking a protest by BJP which accused the Akhilesh government of failing to stop ‘political killings’ in Uttar Pradesh. He was out for a morning walk when two assailants fired multiple shots at him, police said. Following the incident, Singh’s family members and BJP workers staged protests.
