Loadout, Rift and Hearthstone action-based games are available for free
Mumbai: With development and marketing budgets hitting the shelves, the price tag of many games has gone for a toss. Taking nothing away from games like GTA V, Watch Dogs, The Elder Scrolls Online and the likes, there have been a plethora of games that are equally engaging, if not more and the mind boggling part is that they are free.
While the Free to Play genre has been repeatedly tainted with the occasional game that doesn’t skip a heartbeat yet makes you shell out money to advance further into the game, there have also been some fantastic games that do not require you to pay a penny.
Loadout:
This recent first person shooter game is the craziest one on the list. If ludicrous guns and their permutations and combinations is your thing, this is the game for you. You can make a weapon using the materials available and then proceed to mayhem with the very well laid-out multiplayer maps.
Dota 2:
The standalone sequel to the DOTA Mod was launched to huge success and critical acclaim and has become the largest competitive game (maybe just second to Counter -in India, and rightly so. With a praiseworthy financial model, this MOBA is addictive and immersive.
Rift:
Before Guild Wars 2, Rift was the bastion of all non WoW players. Being a completely free to play MMORPG, it attracted huge numbers and has been hailed as one of the better MMOs released till date. With an in-depth character growth system, engaging PvP and most importantly, a bug-free launch, Rift is a game that deserves your attention.
Hearthstone:
With Hearthstone, we get one of the most unique card games out there, with high emphasis on strategy, coupled with a polished interface and design. If you manage to avoid the allures of the Arena mode, there is no reason why you have to spend any money on this title.
TeamFortress 2:
No list of epic free-to-play games is complete without Team Fortress 2 and for good reason. The game with its balanced gameplay, unique visuals and consistent user generated content has managed to stay engaging and relevant even this long after its launch. It truly defines the epitome of fun in the first person shooters games.
