Why Baahubali is flying to Bulgaria
Film unit looks at first foreign location after its ‘farm’ was hit by rain
Hyderabad: The massive rain damage sustained by the maize field, that was “specifically grown” for Baahubali’s shoot, has now forced director S.S. Rajamouli to abandon the homegrown set and look at Bulgaria’s fields instead.
The country in eastern Europe now becomes the first foreign location for the Rs 100-crore Tollywood project. The maize crop started failing last October, and since then, all efforts to rescue the crops have failed. Most of the crops and the land around it are now damaged.
Rajamouli had proudly announced to the world that his unit was “growing maize” for Baahubali and had even posted a photo of the field.
“We cultivated this maize field for a seq (sic). A week before the shoot, it is completely destroyed by the rains. sad! Can imagine how the farmers feel when their crops get affected. Being film people we have quick fix solutions for all problems. But their misery is immeasurable,” said Rajamouli on social media.
And now, after abandoning the field, the entire unit is headed for Bulgaria.
“The director and his team zeroed in on Bulgaria because it has identical and perfect maize fields, it’s exactly what we had in mind. The full unit is flying off,” a source attached to the Baahubali project revealed.
