Mumbai: Since the time the idea of Narendra Modi being the Prime Minister of our democracy struck its chord, the graphs of usage of social media through government officials shot up. In recent news Modi urged his political colleagues to join social media platforms and also to make Hindi as their medium of communication. From June 25, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry is sending detailed reports on social media trends to the PMO and the Cabinet Secretariat.

According to a source a 20-member team will monitor and make reports on the trends of social media and also keep eyes of a hawk throughout the process. The ministry has already started 8 hourly reports on the current trends on the new media to PMO and Cabinet Secretariat. . For instance, they monitor tweets on issues like rail fare hike and prepare a detailed report on the kind of reactions the move is eliciting from the masses. These professionals will do content analysis and trend analysis.
Now beware if you tag any government official in your tweets or facebook posts as the team keeps a close watch on all the official websites.

The debates taking rounds online and the trending issues is what drive the pulse of the nation. Modi is interested to know what is happening in the country, as per another source.
Meanwhile Bharatiya Janata Party is organising a two-day orientation programme for its newly elected MPs from June 28. Prominent leaders including Narendra Modi will teach lawmakers how to maintain decorum and refrain from tarnishing the party’s image. Senior BJP leadership has also prepared a document with do’s and don’ts. The document says that it is mandatory for an MP to mark his presence in Parliament when in the national capital. Modi will also urge lawmakers to become more ‘tech savvy’. All of them have been asked to have a Twitter account. The BJP plans to hold such orientation programmes across the country in all BJP-ruled states.
