Ministry of Home Affairs to speed up cases against ‘saffron terror’
Rajnath Singh has directed officials to conduct investigations in a professional manner
New Delhi: The Centre seems keen to get to the bottom of the entire issue of whether the alleged saffron terror actually exists. Most cases of so-called saffron terror had cropped up during the tenure of the previous UPA regime even as there were divergent views among the top brass of intelligence agencies who had raised serious doubts about whether the perceived threat was at all there.
It is against this background that Union home minister Rajnath Singh has directed top officials to ensure that all investigations of cases of saffron terror should be “expedited and conducted in a professional manner”.
The minister was also categorical in saying that while investigating agencies must conduct a “foolproof probe”, adequate precaution should be taken to ensure that no innocent person from “any community is harassed.”
