Remember places, forget addresses!

A social use of digital maps and location-based services? Why not, say two American techies -- John Samuel, based in Bangalore and Bruce Woolsey in Seattle, USA. They have come together to create what they call the first ever mobile app in the personal directory space.

The application uses the GPS function in an Android -- and soon iOS -- smartphone to help users record/share places, add photos, notes and tags to personalize any location they visit. Search and filter features enable users to create custom lists of places – and share them with friends through mail, text and social media.

Simply by tagging a specific location, one can ‘Blix’ the area and associate it with a special tag (must visit Indian restaurant; best street food joint in Hyderabad etc). Users can also assign dates to these tags so they appear in a preferred order. While on a trip, users can simply click “get directions” and Blix will help to find the place.
