Central Administrative Tribunal order on IAS officers suspended
Order given on appeal by Union government
Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Justice K.C. Bhanu and Justice Anis of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday suspended an order passed by the Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal directing the Centre to rectify the date of birth of IAS officers D. Srinivasulu and J.R. Anand.
The bench was dealing with an appeal by the Union of India challenging the order of the tribunal.
Both the officers moved the tribunal after the Centre rejected their representations to alter their date of births.
Mr Anand, a 1979 batch officer claimed that he had represented to the Centre for alteration of his date of birth from June 7, 1954, to August 7, 1956, and Mr Srinivasulu claimed that he had represented to the Centre for alteration of his date of birth from July 1, 1954, to February 28, 1957.
Aggrieved by the order of the tribunal, the Union of India moved the High Court. The bench found fault with the decision of the tribunal in intervening in the policy matters of the Centre and said the Tribunal cannot enter into the role of the Centre in matters where sensitivity and serious consequences are involved.
While granting interim suspension of the order, the bench issued notices to the respondents.
