Thiruvananthapuram: If the first round of allotment to professional colleges published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations  is an indicator, mechanical engineering is  the most sought-after course for BTech. The last rank allotted to state merit in the branch in any college is 2,154.
 
However, students ranked up to 22,488 could get admission to any branch in government-controlled self-financing engineering colleges in merit quota. Candidates with rank up to 57,063 got allotment in government quota in private  self-financing colleges.
 
For MBBS, candidates ranked up to 1,095 have got allotment in state merit. However, the last rank allotted to government medical colleges is 531 and in the government-controlled medical colleges it is  634. In the case of private self-financing medical colleges, ranks up to  1,095 got allotment.
 
The last rank allotted under state merit in government dental college is 1,133. In government-controlled colleges it is 1,373. In private self-financing colleges, it is 1,753. The last rank allotted to ayurveda colleges in the state merit seats is 2,296.
 
For BVSc and AH course, the last rank allotted in state merit is medical rank 2,385. In case of BSc Agriculture course, it is 2,458 and for fisheries  2,668. For the forestry course those with medical rank up to 2,538 got allotment in state merit.
