Security beefed up in Shar for Prime Minister visit
PM, AP Chief Minister and Governor will be at Shar to witness PSLV-C23 launch
Nellore: Launch Authorisation Board (LAB) for PSLV-C23 mission has cleared the launch on June 30, 2014. The 49-hour countdown will start at 8.52 am on June 28, 2014. PSLV-C23 will carry five satellites including SPOT-7 produced by France on board and the launch is scheduled for 9.49 am on June 30 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Shar, Sriharikota, SPSR Nellore district.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan will be at Shar to witness the launch. Shar is being fortified in view of Prime Minister’s visit. The Central Industrial Security Forces have already launched combing operations in the forest located around the space centre. Police teams, including bomb squad and dog squad, scanned the culverts and road beween Sullurpeta and Sriharikota apart from the roads inside Shar.
Police authorities have deployed nearly 2,500 personnel for the security arrangements and all vehicles heading to Shar are being checked at a makeshift check post at Atakanitippa located on the way to Shar. Three helipads have been prepared for the landing of the copters brining the VIP’s. Police is also inspecting all the lodges in Sullurpeta.
