Man with bullet held at Rajiv Gandhi International airport
The passenger was going to Singapore for education purposes
Hyderabad: Security officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport found an MBA student carrying a bullet in his bag. The passenger, Md Abrar, a native of Karnataka’s Bellary district, was going to Singapore for education purposes.
RGI police, who took the passenger into custody, said that the live round of a .22 revolver belonged to his uncle who had a firearm licence.
“The student told us that he was carrying his uncle’s suitcase, which contained a bullet. His uncle has produced an arms license, which we are verifying now,” said Inspector T. Sudhakar.
He added that his uncle had come with him to the airport. The passenger said that his uncle had left the bullet in his suitcase, and it went unnoticed when he was packing. He said he saw it only when RGIA security detected it.
Mr Sudhakar said the police has not booked any case as the passenger’s uncle produced the licence. “We are probing the matter. For now, we have let off the passenger,” he said.
