Congress says it has natural claim over lok sabha Leader of Opposition post

New Delhi: The Congress said on Sunday that it has a “natural claim” to the post of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and any attempt to scuttle it can only be termed as “autocratic”.

“In a Constitutional democracy, opposition including all important position of Leader of Opposition is a principal prerequisite for Constitutionally mandated functioning of the Parliament, including appointment to various public offices.

Congress has a natural claim to the position of Leader of Opposition as the largest political party and pre-poll alliance,” party spokesman Randeep Surjewala said.
