GAIL sacks two top officials for explosion
Around 18 people lost their lives till now and many were injured critically
Kakinada: The Gas Authority of India Limited suspended two top officials of the company in the aftermath of gas pipeline blast at Nagaram village in Mamidikuduru mandal of Konaseema area in East Godavari District on June 27.
Around 18 people lost their lives till now and many were injured critically in the tragedy.
According to sources, the general manager (in-charge of the regional operations and maintenance), Pankaj Patel, and the deputy general manager, Rakesh Prasad, were suspended in the incident.The Gail found these two officials liable for the incident.
A high level probe would be conducted by the government and the company soon. After completing the probe by the committee, the stringent action would be taken against all the responsible officials,’’ said the Gail director (projects) M.A. Karnataka.
He met district collector Neethu Prasad on Sunday and handed over a cheque of Rs 3.89 crore as a compensation of Rs 20 lakh each for the family of deceased and Rs 50,000 each for injured persons as compensation. He said Gail would bear medical expenses of all the injured and the best possible medical care would be provided.
