Telecom companies to Trai: Ease norms
Some standards set by TRAI practically difficult to implement, says telecom players
New Delhi: Leading telecom players Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea bat for relaxation in quality of services standards set by Trai saying that some of them are practically difficult to implement.
“Presently, for some parameters benchmark require 100 per cent achievement, which is an idealistic scenario and cannot be achieved due to practical difficulties which at time are beyond the service provider’s control,” said Bharti Airtel.
Idea Cellular said that billions of varied transactions are processed in a day and it is practically impossible to avoid errors altogether.
“While it has always been our endeavour to meet all parameters and provide high class service to our customers, there are chances of deviation beyond the set of benchmarks as no system is infallible and 100 per cent fool proof,” said Idea Cellular.
The firm said that there is a need for relaxation in tight benchmarks set by Trai and the financial disincentives. Vodafone said that due to intense competition in India telecom operators are under severe pressure to maintain their quality of services.
