Hyderabad: With seven of her films set to hit the screens this year, Samantha is the in-demand actress as far as Tamil and Telugu producers are concerned.

Talking about her latest Telugu film, Autonagar Surya, which released last week, she says, “I started Telugu films with Chaitanya and this was the third film with him. Director Deva Katta and he worked very hard for the film. Whatever the result, the film has finally released and that’s great news,” says Samantha, adding, that she will be working with Deva Katta again. “He has promised to give me a full-length character in his next film.”

While she has been paired opposite big stars in most of her upcoming projects, Samantha says that it is not an important factor for her. “I have never signed a film based on the star. I look at the director and his work and then I sign a film. The director is very important,” she says, adding, “I always see how much importance a director gives to the female leads too. That’s why I signed director Linguswamy’s project.”

The actress is also a big fan of director Murugadoss. “All of them give importance to the female leads even if it is an action film,” says Samantha.

Denying the rumour that she was paid more than Rs 2 crore for the Telugu film, Alludu Seenu, Samantha says, “I would be happy if I got that amount, but it is wrong. When I was sick, Bellamkonda Suresh helped me out a lot. It was at that time that I signed this film.”

Samantha was also approached for the remake of the hit Bollywood film Queen, but she rejected it. “Queen is a very sensitive subject and it should be dealt with extreme care. The subject is suitable for Hindi audiences but for the South it needs a lot of changes and I could not convince them. So I am not doing the film,” she says.

About her Tweet that she would be signing a multistarrer soon, she says, “I do not to talk about my projects until the first day of the shoot. So I will announce it later.” She also declines to comment on whether she would be willing to do the remake of Bangalore Days in Telugu.
