Hyderabad: Seven child labourers were rescued from the Kushaiguda industrial area, and two from Vikarabad by the labour department on Monday. The children were shifted to the government child home at Saidabad, and will be produced before the Children Welfare Committee, Ranga Reddy district. Prosecution will be launched against the employers under the Child Labour (R&A) Act.

This is the second raid by the labour department. In Kushaiguda, Somesekhar, 13, was rescued from Sai Ratna Tiffin Centre, Nagaraju, 13, from Sri Sai Auto Consultancies, C. Venkatesh, 13, from Sri Sai Radiums, Durga Prasad, 13, from Suresh Industries, Praveen, 13 from Sri Anjaneya Motors, Pedda Raju, 13, from water supply and Imran Ahmed Khan, 13, from 1K Engineering. Mohd Ameer, 13, from Janata Motors, and Dilip, 12, from Sri Balaji Tea Stall in Vikarabad.

The deputy commissioner of labour, RR district, S. Naresh Kumar and assistant commissioner of labour, K. Ravinder Reddy and their team conducted the raid.
