Ghatkesar-Pedda Amberpet stretch to be operational in July
The phase has taken four years to complete and had missed many deadlines
Hyderabad: The 12-km Ghatkesar-Pedda Amberpet stretch, that falls under Phase II(B) of the ORR project, will be operational in July, said the officials. The phase, which was taken up in 2010, took four years to complete and had missed many deadlines owing to disputes.
One of the major hurdles that delayed the works at Ghatkesar involved the three blocks of godowns belonging to the FCI. These had to be demolished to make way for the ORR. The owner had filed a petition in the AP High Court. However, the HC dismissed the petition.
The second issue was that of getting an approval from the SCR for a road-over-bridge at Ghatkesar. Both these issues were resolved and the HMDA them gave a green signal to Nagarjuna Construction Company to work on the stretch.
The ORR from Patancheru to Pedda Amberpet is the only incomplete section. The first part is from Patancheru to Shameerpet, while the second part is from Shameerpet to Pedda Amberpet.
