SRIRANGAM: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who launched various projects and distributed welfare aid to the tune of Rs 63.49 crore to over 25,000 beneficiaries here on Monday, thanked the people for having faith in her and enabling her party’s landslide win in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.

This was the fifth time in the last three years that she was visiting her constituency. Quoting the famous words of late leader C.N. Annadurai, who had proclaimed that the people’s verdict was God’s (Mahesan’s), she said, “If this is so, you (people) are God.”

Pointing to the people’s overwhelming mandate to her party by defeating the opposition which levelled baseless charges against her, Jayalalithaa said that she took it as the people’s certificate to her three-year- old government and its achievements.

New schemes like 2,000-tonne capacity cold storage facilities and a trade centre, having 1,000 shops would  come up shortly in the Srirangam assembly constituency, she said.

Ms Jayalalithaa also called upon the people to extend their support to her continuously in order to fulfill the state’s long pending demands and also to protect the people’s rights.
