Apollo open to buying hospitals
'We are also looking for inorganic growth through acquisition of hospitals'
Hyderabad: Apollo Hospitals is looking for strategic acquisitions in northern India to expand beyond its traditional southern stronghold. “We are expanding beyond the south. We have a hospital in Navi Mumbai and one in Kolkata. We are also looking for inorganic growth through acquisition of hospitals which match our standards in the north,” Ms Sangita Reddy, joint managing director of Apollo Group, told this correspondent on Wednesday.
She, however, refused to specify the size of hospitals that are on radar. The healthcare major, which has traditionally preferred organic grow-th, is already in talks to buy a hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Its organic expansion too has been oriented towards expanding its footprint in non-traditional areas. “We are building hospitals in Nasik and Patna,” she added. The healthcare sector in the north and the west is dominated by Fortis Healthcare and Max Healthcare.
