Villagers stop Rajinikanth's 'Lingaa' shoot
Unit claims crowd was asking for money
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad shoot of Lingaa was brought to a halt by villagers who claimed the crew were mixing chemicals in a lake situated near their homes.
The incident at Anajpur, Ranga Reddy district took place late on Wednesday and unit members claim the villagers amassed near the shooting location threatening to damage equipment. But according to a source from the location, the villagers were in fact, demanding money from the cast and crew.
“When the unit refused to cough up cash, they tried to stop the shooting. These are the same guys who had earlier tried to stop Prabhas and Rajamouli during Baahubali’s shoot, a few months ago,” the source said. The crew member also dismissed allegations of chemicals in the lake.
“We had taken all permissions from the irrigation department and produced the documents to the villagers. It was about money.”
The film’s shoot has now moved to Ramoji Film city and the film’s reps claim there have been no delays.
