Kochi: Namitha Pramod may not have reached voting age yet, but the Kerala audience is definitely voting to see her on screen. The actress, who has shot to fame, will soon be seen in yet another Lal Jose movie, Vikramadithyan opposite  Dulquer Salmaan and Unni Mukundan and also in Dileep’s Villaliveeran.

“Vikramadithyan is my second project with Lal uncle and we share a really good rapport. Dulquer and Unni Mukundan are fun to work with. I play the role of Deepika, a Konkani girl in this feel-good movie. I had to speak a few lines in Konkani in the movie, a language I have never used before. I learned the language from a Konkani friend of mine. She used to send me voice messages in Konkani through Whats App and I learned my dialogues by imitating her tone and style. But I’m not someone who picks up a new language  quickly,” says Namitha.

She is currently shooting for Villaliveeran, a  mass entertainer. “I play the role of an ad filmmaker, Namratha, a girl-next door character. I guess that short phase where a lot of bold and modern female characters were dominating the Malayalam screens is over. Almost all the scripts I have read recently are of characters we can relate to in real life,” she says.

The actress says she has her hands full shuttling from one project to the other. “Within days of completing  the shooting of Vikramadithyan at Mattancherry, I joined the shoot of Villaliveeran at Thodupuzha. I have no idea when I finish a shoot and begin the next anymore. I think I have to join the unit of the next movie immediately after Villaliveeran is done. Despite the hectic schedule, I still enjoy my work. The whole year is going to be this way because I have a huge number of good scripts lined up,” says Namitha.

She adds that her long time dream of acting with Prithiviraj may soon come true. “One of the projects I have signed this year is supposed to have Prithviraj in the lead. Though the dates are yet to be confirmed, I think it should be my second movie after Villaliveeran. You will get to see me on screen with Prithviraj by the end of this year,” she says.

She is amused by reports of  being signed for films she hasn’t heard of. “I often read very convincing reports of films I have never signed. The other day someone invited my father to the pooja of a film in  which I was the lead actress! I had never even heard of the project before!” she says.

The actress, however, refuses to let her busy schedule get in the way of her studies. “I’ve joined St Theresa’s College for BA Sociology but I don’t know how to manage my attendance. My teachers and the principal are supportive but they insist I attend all my internals. In Class XII too I was juggling films and studies, but I did well. I want to do PG in MSW and join some organisation to work for a social-cause. I am not going to let my acting career compromise my studies!”
