Hyderabad: A row over water is hotting up between Telangana and AP governments.

Telangana home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy accused AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of poking his nose in Telangana affairs and hatching a conspiracy to take away Nagarjunasagar waters for irrigation purposes.

It is unfortunate that the Centre too seems to support AP, ignoring the interests of Telangana,” he said.

Speaking at a function at Telangana Bhavan, where several ZPTCs, MPTCs, Mandal presidents and others from the Congress in Mahbubnagar joined the TRS under the leadership of Niranjan Reddy, the home minister said, “Both Telangana and AP are new states and the Centre should try to solve issues. When Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he made it clear that he would set aside politics and strive for development of the state.”

Taking exception to Mr Naidu’s comments that he would develop  Telangana too, the ho-me minister quipped, “Don’t we have a government here? How can he say he will develop this state too? He has no role to play in Telangana and should mind his business in AP.”
