New ‘semi-bullet’ train sets record at 160 km/h

The speed of the train is more than the Shatabdi that runs from New Delhi to Agra

New Delhi: India will soon have experience of travelling in a semi high-speed trains as a trial run between New Delhi and Agra was done on Thursday by completing the journey between the two cities in 90 minutes.

As the Indian Railways conducted the trial run of the country’s fastest train that moves at a speed of 160 km per hour, it is likely that the operation will begin in November.

The trial run of the “semi high-speed train” was conducted on Thursday on a 10-coach train. It left New Delhi station at 11.15 am and reached Agra about 99 minutes later.

There are about 16 speed restriction areas and curves on the Delhi-Agra route, which had been upgraded to improve the speed.
