Is this the ultimate recycling unit?
Ekocycle cube 3D printer recycles plastic waste and turns them into beautiful objects
Imagine recycling used tons of waste in the form of plastic bottles into bracelets, vases, mobile accessories, shoes and other quirky, beautiful objects.
The Ekocycle cube 3D printer does the same by printing objects with the help of filaments made from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. On an average, each Ekocycle cartridge is made from recycled 20 oz plastic containers, and is currently available only in red, black and white.
However, the makers are confident of churning out products in other colours too in the days to come. Also, a cartridge is able to turn a minimum of three used bottles into wearable accessories.
According to Designboom, this innovative initiative is sustainable and an environmentally responsible way to tackle a major global problem. US rapper Will.i.am, the Chief Creative Officer of 3DSystems, who launched the product recently, described the technology as the beginning of a cultural revolution and remarked that this collaboration of art and technology would help in revamping lifestyles.
