Chennai: Sanam Shetty, who made an impressive debut in the first ever made 3D Tamil film, Ambuli, seems to be a happy with the way her career is going.  Sanam had done many commercials in the south before taking up a job in the UK. One of her ads fetched her an alluring role in Ambuli. What followed were good offers from Mollywood. She had a great opportunity to share screen space with Mammooty in Deivathinde Swantham Cleatus. When the Telugu industry beckoned, with ace filmmaker Raghavendra Rao’s offer, Intinta Annamayya, she quit her job for stardom. Now with four Tamil films in her kitty, Sanam talks about the ups and downs in the  fashion industry.

Horror movie:
Thottal Vidadhu horror thriller and I am lucky to get a heroine centric film even as a newcomer. I play Sanjana, a wannabe model, a highly ambitious girl who wants to make it big in the glam world. She struggles to make it to the top slot, and how she handles daily situations forms the crux of the film. Since I had ramp-walked for several shows in Bengaluru and Chennai and modelled as well, I could easily connect with the character. Director Ajith Pegasus has also conducted many fashion shows and we would instantly connect.

Skin show too:
I have done what was required of the script. I don’t mind being glamorous if the story demands it, but definitely not anything vulgar. There’s a thin line between being the two. I can handle any kind of attire. One can look sensuous even in a sari.

Working with Mammootty:
Though he seems unapproachable, he comes across as a friendly person. I had many combination scenes with him. He was very helpful while shooting and the whole experience was riveting.

Tollywood release:
It was like a dream come true for me when I got a call from Raghavendra garu’s office. I play an NRI rock star in the movie and I had to undergo a total transformation in terms of looks and body language. I enjoyed every bit of it. Unfortunately, for some reason, the movie’s release is getting delayed. Though I am getting offers from T’town, I am waiting for IA to get released.

Future films:
Katham Katham with Nandha and Nutty directed by Babu Thooyavan, and Vilasam, Kalaiventhen where I play a dual role, and Sawari, among others.
