Suriya announces new training center for underprivileged
Father's legacy carried on with the same passion by Suriya’s Agaram Foundation
Chennai: The 35th edition award ceremony of Sri Sivakumar Educational and Charitable Trust, founded by veteran actor Sivakumar, to honour the school toppers took place in the city recently. Flanked by his actor-son Suriya, Sivakumar gave away financial assistance to the tune of rupees Rs 2,50,000 to those who had passed out with flying colours from the rural sector.
The legacy of nurturing the bright and needy students is now carried on with the same passion by Suriya’s Agaram Foundation. Sivakumar insisted that the government include the Tamil language as a compulsory subject in the curriculum.
Speaking on the ocassion Suriya said, “Agaram Foundation aims to cater to the educational development of the students who are at the bottom of our socio-economic strata. We are educting 1000 students from the first generation which is only possible with a helping hand from educational institutions. Apart from education, student should also excel in extra curricular activities. That will help them great heights in life. Hence this year, we are starting a training centre called Agaram Training Centre in a two-acre plot donated by Sri Sairam group of Institutions in Madhuranthagam”.
Suriya’s sister Brindha commenced the programme with an invocation song.
