GAIL appoints Engineers India Ltd. to check pipeline to avoid incident like Nagaram

Hyderabad: In the wake of the Nagaram gas pipeline explosion last month, in which 21 person were killed, the Gas Authority of India Ltd. has appointed Engineers India Ltd. to check the condition of its pipeline network of 870 kilometres in the KG Basin on the East Coast.

All the pipeline maintenance bases of Gail across the country have alerted on the safety parameters. Any deviation or abnormality is to be attended to immediately, said a senior official.

“Engineers India Ltd. has been commissioned to do a comprehensive health check up of all the lines. Replacement plan will be finalised as per the study report. However, we have been directed not to start any repair work till a clearance from district administration," the officials said.
