Of love and connections: Shravan Reddy
Hyderabadi Splitsvilla contestant Shravan Reddy on why it’s hard to find love on the show
Hyderabad: It has hardly been a month since its launch and the seventh season of Splitsvilla is already a hot favourite. And Hyderabad’s Shravan Reddy, who became the first “king” on the reality show, continues to be everyone’s favourite.
The 25-year-old, who had done fictional shows on TV before Splitsvilla, says that a reality show is a very different experience “as one has to live and adjust with a bunch of strangers.” Also, you are under the constant surveillance of cameras.
“I was always conscious of what I was doing on the show because sometimes your actions can be perceived in different ways... in ways you don’t mean them. Since I am an introvert, it took me time to open up,” says Shravan.
Talking about the format of the show where you are expected to find love in a couple of weeks, he says, “I am on this show not to find love but to build connections and make friends. I guess a few weeks are too few to know someone and decide that she is the one for you. Moreover, you don’t know if they are pretending or being their real selves on TV.”
Shravan also admits that the show’s host, Sunny Leone, was one of the main reasons why he agreed to be on Splitsvilla. “The show always had more of a teenage audience. So I am hoping that with the presence of Sunny, people of all age groups will tune in to the show. This will help me get more exposure.”
He adds that the show is not scripted and whatever is aired on the TV happens for real. Shravan was 19 when he moved to Mumbai. But he’s still a Hyderabadi by heart.
“I grew up here. I passed out of Hyderabad Public School and I have fond memories of this city. I come at least twice a year to meet my parents. But I always wanted to become an actor so I left my graduation mid-way and went to Mumbai. After eight months of struggle, I finally bagged Jersey No. 10 on Sab TV and Yahan Ke Hum Sikander on Zee TV,” says Shravan, who also has Tollywood aspirations.
He was later signed for Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari on Colors but had to leave the show mid-way because of an accident. And after a long break of four years, he returned to TV with Yeh Hai Aashiqui and MTV Webbed. But much before these shows, when he was still in Hyderabad, Shravan got a chance to feature in singer Kailash Kher’s music video Tauba Tauba.
