New Delhi: Often at the epicentre of controversy for failing to ensure safety of its women, the spotlight is once again on the country’s national capital for all the wrong reasons.

An 81-year old woman was allegedly raped and murdered at her house in a posh South Delhi locality by her domestic help, who later burnt her body.

Police has arrested 21-year-old Neeraj Saki. She was employed 10 months ago.

On Monday evening, Saki reported a fire in the Greater Kailash residence.

The woman’s body was partially burnt while the air-conditioner in her room was working, with marks around her neck.

Her daughter was not present inside the house at the time.

The police initially believed the help's version that it was an accidental fire.

Saki tried to mislead police by telling that the elderly woman died of an accident. He, however, later confessed the crime and said that he had raped, strangled and burnt her employer.
