Chennai: Commending the Prime Minister and railway minister for being transparent in placing the status of Indian Railways before the country, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesdaysaid that the approach taken by the railway ministry in its first railway budget was ‘fiscally responsible and very bold.’
“What is commendable (about the budget) is that having recognized this deep crisis, the railway budget provides a vision for the future,” Jayalaithaa said in a release.
Particularly highlighting the proposed diamond quadrilateral high speed rail network that could be a game changer in terms of providing a transport infrastructure backbone for the country, Jayalalithaa said that the introduction of high speed bullet trains was an aspirational goal which would enthuse the country.
