Hyderabad: YSR Congress on Tuesday moved the Hyderabad High Court challenging the action of the presiding officer of Jamalamadugu Nagar Panchayat of Kadapa district in postponing the election scheduled for July 3 and 4 without citing any reason.
T. Suryanarayana and three other elected councillors of the Panchayat moved the plea stating that the presiding officer unilaterally took the decisions to postpone the elections to the posts of chairperson and vice chairman of the Nagar Panchayat at the behest of ruling party leader.
They urged the court to conduct the elections and also provide police protections to the councilors elected from the YSRC.
