100-kg tumour removed from Chinese man’s leg

London: Doctors in China have removed what is believed to be the largest tumour ever to have affected a human being.

Yang Jianbin, 37, from Shanxi Province, survived the 16-hour procedure after experts removed the 100-kilo tumour from his leg, that originated as a birthmark on the right side of his lower back.

Experts say Yang was suffering from Neurofibromatosis — a genetic disorder that destabilises normal growth and development of cell tissue.

According to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, Yang's tumour made up two-thirds of his total body weight and he required two hospital beds during his stay in care.
