Clovis Fernandes, Brazil's 12th man, has a heart of gold
The passionate Brazil fan has won over the Germans as well
Mumbai: Brazil’s shocking semifinal loss against Germany will haunt its players and coach. But the victory has shattered their fans a great deal. While the hosts looked set for a dream run, the poor performance in the semifinal has turned those dreams into nightmare.
But that does not mean Brazilian fans has lost a sense of nicety. Take Clovis Fernandes’ example, he calls himself Brazil's 12th man. Rightfully so. His passion and love for Brazilian football has seen him travel across 60 countries and for 150 Brazil.
He was there to cheer for Brazil during the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
He also travled to 1994 to US to support the Brazilian team that won the World Cup.
The age seems to have no impact on Clovis as he remained Brazil's pillar of support during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Cometh 2010 World Cup in South Africa and he was there too.
With Brazil hosting this World Cup, it was certain that Clovis Fernandes would be there. A German thrashing of Brazil in the semi-final could have made him sour. But instead he won several fans with his kind gesture of handing over a replica of World Cup to German supporters. He has been carrying the replica of trophy as he roamed around the globe to cheer his national team. It is reported that while he handed over the trophy, he said, "Congratulation."
Such is his passion for football that even FIFA has made a special video on him. A tribute of a kind.
