Xiaomi, the ‘Apple’ in China, debuts in India on 15th July
Xiaomi, renowned smartphone maker in China, is also known as the ‘Apple of China’
Xiaomi is a well-known and renowned smartphone brand in China. Known for reasonably priced premium smartphones, the Chinese brand is finally here to make put mark on the Indian smartphone industry.
Xiaomi has a range of smartphones and with the new entrance in the tablet market, they are all set to launch their smartphones and tablets in the Indian space. The event is scheduled for Monday, 15 July 2014, in Delhi.
As per the manufacturer’s website, the Xiaomi Mi 3 is being unveiled for the Indian market and priced at Rs 14,999. The smartphone is quad-core processor-based, with 2GB of RAM, full HD display, 13MP camera and a metal chassis. The possible launch of a tablet is also expected at the same venue. The prices are sure to make other rival handset manufacturers in India unhappy with another strong contender to deal with. Existing contenders on the high ground that are already come into India recently are Gionee and OPPO. Presently, Indian manufacturers such as Micromax, LAVA, XOLO, Spice, Karbonn, WickedLeak, and a few others offer high-end smartphones ina budget range. With the entrance of the Mi3, it seems like they will have to take their designs back to the drawing board.
Xiaomi is well-known for their MIUI operating system, which will be installed on all their handsets and tablets. MIUI is a pretty powerful operating system, which is based on Android. The Mi 3 will feature the MIUI v5 operating system, based on the Android Jelly Bean v4.2. The custom operating system is heavily tweaked and features skins and themes, which can be installed and applied according to your preference. The user interface is pretty much similar to the iOS on Apple iPhones. The MIUI operating system is completely free and features timely updates OTA.
