Hyderabad: Music and dance, alcohol and ganja, semi-clad sex workers, raining bank notes, a farmhouse in Shamirpet was rocking in the wee hours of Sunday. The host was a female DJ Rakhi Dharak and her guest were traders and employees of private offices, who came all the way from Raichur.

But the police put an abrupt end to the sleaze fest with a well-timed raid. The 14 guests, who had come prepared for a weekend party, were rounded up. So was Rakhi, who was caught once earlier for a similar offence, had been let off with a warning.

“In February, we had warned her not to repeat such acts. This time, she had promised a safe rave party to her acquaintances in Raichur,” said Balanagar deputy commissioner of police A.R. Srinivas.

At the time of arrest, she was found to possess more than 1 kg of ganja. The other items found during the raid included cash, liquor, cellphones and five cars.

Rakhi’s aide, Ranjan, managed to give the police a slip. Police said the farmhouse was run by a trader, C. Veeresh Yadav, a resident of Alwal, who is into poultry farming. Renting out the farmhouse for such parties appears to be a side business. The man is on the run.

Rakhi, who attends many private parties, came into contact with him a few months ago and paid him a huge sum to rent the place. The two have been booked under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Among the 11 women rescued, five were from Hyderabad, three from Mumbai, and four from West Bengal. They have been sent to private rehabilitation homes.
