890 buildings listed as illegal
Civic body plans to start demolition from today
Hyderabad: There will be a massive crackdown on illegal buildings under construction from Tuesday. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has identified 890 unauthorised under-construction structures across the 18 Circles. Of these, 17 will be demolished in a phased manner.
The question, however, remains as to how the Circle town planning officers had allowed excavation and building activities without inspection. GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar, said, “The GHMC will start demolition from Tuesday. Offenders will not be spared.
Concerned officers have been directed and the list of these buildings has been prepared. Hyderabad police and civic officials will conduct the demolition drive. The Water Board and Electricity Board will be informed as well. GHMC will not only take severe action against the unauthorised constructions, but also against the erring town planning officers.”
“Property buyers should apply for permission and GHMC will grant approvals at the earliest. One should be very careful while purchasing land. Citizens can inform the GHMC about the unauthorised constructions using the 24x7 call centre number 04021111111,” said the commissioner. Among the 890 identified unauthorised structures are the Gokul Flats at Hafeezpet. The GHMC officials have handed over the list to the concerned police station.
