London: Government Communications Headquarters, the British intelligence agency  has reportedly developed tools to manipulate online polls, spam targets with SMSes, track people by impersonating spammers and monitor social media posts, according to newly-published documents leaked by Edward Snowden.

A range of GCHQ “effects” programmes aimed at tracking targets, spreading information, and manipulating online debates and statistics, reports The Guardian. It also has capabilities to boost views of YouTube videos.
