Loan waiver tops Telangana's Cabinet agenda

All cases booked against people in Telangana movement since 2001 would be lifted

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday announced that the farm loan waiver of up to Rs 1 lakh, including  gold loans, would be implemented immediately.
 
The agriculture and revenue departments have been asked to work out the modalities in this regard.
 
Mr Rao also said that all cases booked against people including youth and students in the Telangana movement since 2001 would be immediately lifted and the home department has been directed to take necessary action.
 
As promised, Mr Rao also said that services of all Telangana contract employees in government would be regularised and relaxation would be provided wherever needed.
 
After a marathon Cabinet meeting lasting five-and-half hours and a media briefing later at night, the Chief Minister also announced the launch of a  Kalyana Lakshmi scheme providing Rs 50,000 to Dalit and Girijan girls at the time of their marriage.
 
Toddy shops in Hyderabad will reopen from Dasara, he said.
