Royal Yagna in Mangalore for Oman’s Sultan
The businessman performed the Chandika Yagna for the good health of Oman's sultan
Mangalore: This was no ordinary yagna but one meant for a king.
Performed at the Hosanadu Kodyadka Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple, around 40 km from Mangalore, it was intended to pray for the recovery of ailing Oman sultan, Qaboos bin Said al Said.
The unusual Chandika Yaga was performed for the 73-year-old Sultan — thanks to an Indian businessman, Kodyadka Jayaram Hegde, who has been living in Oman for the last three decades and is grateful to the Sultan for the help he received for his business there.
Having built the temple in Kodyadka in 1996 and being its founder trustee, Mr Hegde found no better place for the yagna to show his gratitude to the Sultan than the temple.
“Mr Hegde has been working in the Oman for about three decades. He is grateful to the sultan for the good business he runs there. He has so much love and respect for him that he even has his picture in his room in the temple,” says Mr Hegde’s close aide Mittabail Vasudev.
